Breast Cancer Comfort Hearts

Comfort Hearts is a volunteer powered endeavor. We make soft, heart shaped pillows for breast cancer survivors that are distributed to patients via hospitals and doctors offices throughout the Valley. These pillows are given to people at the time of surgery to be utilized in their recovery. We need volunteers of all ages and expertise to cut, stitch, stuff, and attach labels.

This project has been taking place at the Bernina Connection since 2004 and over 12,300 hearts have been created thus far, so we are celebrating our 15 year anniversary of making hearts at the Bernina Connection.  Ellen Hedlund and I began this journey in our home in 2003 and were able to expand this opportunity to “give back and pay it forward” thanks to you two and the tireless efforts of DiAnn Iverson who manages our inventory, social media and outreach efforts coupled with a wonderful cadre of volunteers!

We rely solely on donations from people (like you) who are touched by and support our project by providing us with the means to purchase our supplies. We invite you to join us to make Comfort Hearts so we can really make a difference for someone experiencing breast cancer.

Call 602-553-8350 as space is limited and to let us know that you are coming and if you are bringing your sewing machine so we can plan for machines, work stations and fabric. Working kids are welcome!
