Back to School Sewing
The dates for the FREE EVENTS are listed in our Newsletter.

Join us for a day of sewing to make garments for the Back to School Clothing Drive. Each year this organization clothes over 5,000 children in Maricopa County. Clothing for children from size 5 - 14 are needed. There will be clothing already cut out to sew, but you are welcome to bring your own fabric and patterns. We are always in need of trendy ideas for girls in the size 12 - 14 range.

We are also looking for sewers of boys button up shirts in the same sizes. If you can’t attend but would like to contribute to this wonderful organization, we are accepting unopened packages of underwear and socks for all ages and sizes. We hope you can join us!

Care Card: Gift of the Heart

The Board of Visitors is proud to announce their 25th annual "Shop, Save, Give" Care Card Shopping event takes place in October every year and, once again, the Bernina Connection is participating. Care Cards are available for purchase for $60 from Bernina Connection.

The Bernina Connection will grant a 20% discount to Care Card holders on all regular priced items during the specified ten days. The 20% discount does not apply to machines, software, or already discounted items.

Comfort Hearts for Breast Cancer

Join Cecile, DiAnn, and friends in making heart shaped pillows for breast cancer survivors that will be distributed to hospitals and doctors’ offices throughout the Valley. These pillows are given to women at the time of surgery and will be utilized as a part of their recovery. We need people of all ages and expertise to cut, stitch, stuff, and attach labels.

Since May 2004, over 14,000 hearts have been made with materials donated by friends. Tina’s Treasures at Virginia Piper Cancer Center is the primary distributor of hearts going to all HonorHealth Hospitals and Breast Centers. Hearts are available at Bernina Connection for those who need them.  Hearts are always available at BC for those who need them.

Won’t you come help with this project? A little of your time or resources can really make a difference for someone experiencing breast cancer. Call the store, 602-553-8350, to let us know that you are coming and whether or not you are able to bring your own sewing machine, so we can plan for machines, work stations and fabric. Working kids are welcome.

Sew Powerful Charity Purse Sewing is always a FREE EVENT for beginners and beyond.

Did you know that the Bernina Connection is the first official drop-off site for Sew Powerful in Arizona?

We’d love your help with the SEWPOWERFUL program designed to keep girls in school all month and provide jobs to seamstresses in Lusaka. Download the beginner's Cross Body Purse pattern and instructions to begin making purses. Learn more about how these purses create academic achievement in Zambia at SewPowerful website and learn about the issue of Menstrual Hygiene Management.. We will have kits ready to sew and will teach you how to make the beginners purse. Just bring your sewing machine and neutral thread.
