A bit about Lydia
From the Washington state area. The Navy took Lydia’s family to Japan in 2006 and when her husband retired in 2013 he took a job with the US government and stayed in Japan. Lydia loves to explore and make things so her love for Japanese fabrics and history started with the move. That was when she learned about Boro and the kasuri ( Ikat) cotton in Northern Japan. The journey started with visits to factories and learning more and more about how Japanese artisans made their hand woven cottons and silks as well as their dying processes. She has lived in northern Japan, Tokyo, and now the southwest Hiroshima area. She teaches many classes and give tours to various regions in Japan. Lydia is constantly learning and expanding her knowledge of the culture to share with friends and customers. All of her knowledge is from the wonderful Japanese families that have 200-400 years of expertise
